Service Day 2010 was a huge success! GCA’s Community Service Day was a project of Grace’s Senior class and all students, Kindergarten thru 12th grade, participated and spent a portion of their day giving back to the community. Our Kindergartners visited Riverside Place, Memorial Manor and Willow Ridge entertaining the residents with songs. 1st thru 5th spent a part of their day writing letters and drawing pictures for our service men and women and thanking them for their service to our country. The sixth graders spent the afternoon at the YMCA sprucing up the walking track with fresh pine straw and picking up trash. The 7th & 8th graders worked with Decatur Co. Keep America Beautiful cleaning off storm drains around town and mounting a decal that reminds people to not pollute our water supply. While the middle schoolers were out in the community, the 9th thru 12 graders were in the gym packing goody boxes for our soldiers. These boxes include items that were donated by the GCA students and faculty. Way to go Seniors…Great Project!!!
