GCA Names Co-Valedictorians and Salutatorian
Grace Christian Academy announces top honors for the senior class of 2020. These outstanding scholars are Co-Valedictorians Sarah Elizabeth Griffin and Lilah Brynn Widner, along with Salutatorian David Daniel Sellers. All three students are completing an honors curriculum at Grace including AP courses and dual enrollment classes at ABAC.
Valedictorian Sarah Elizabeth Griffin is the daughter of Craig and Emily Griffin. She is a superb student who sets extremely high goals for herself and is always willing to give her very best efforts. Sarah Beth holds numerous leadership positions at GCA including: senior class President; Treasurer of the National Honor Society; and, Vice President of the Interact Club. Sarah Beth loves to help others. She tutors many students at Grace as a student volunteer. She played on the 2018 Region Champion Tennis Team and in 2019 was the State Tennis Doubles Runner-Up. Her desire is to go into the medical field. She is a graduate of the Envision Medical/Leadership Program and the National Student Leadership Conference. Sarah Beth will attend the University of Georgia in the fall.
Valedictorian Lilah Brynn Widner is the daughter of Chad and Carol Widner. Lilah loves academics, and her work is always spectacular. She is committed to her studies and has spent three summers taking part in the Duke Tips Program both in North Carolina and at the University of Georgia. Lilah serves as the Parliamentarian of the Student Government Association and the Parliamentarian of the National Honor Society. Lilah graduated from the Bainbridge-Decatur County Youth Leadership Program. She is an excellent musician playing both the violin and piano. Her musical skills have been recognized throughout high school winning first in the Regional Literary Competition in piano and being selected for the GISA All-Select Orchestra. Lilah consistently plays for the residents of local nursing homes. Her plans are to enter Berry College in August.
The GCA Salutatorian is David Daniel Sellers. Daniel is the son of David and Kim Sellers. Daniel has a very high aptitude for academics and always exhibits solid work ethic. Daniel is the Historian for the National Honor Society and is a very active member of the GCA Interact Club. His academic accolades include being a Zell Miller scholar and a Principal’s Honor Roll recipient. He has spent countless hours doing volunteer work and is always willing to give of his time and specialized skills to others. Daniel is particularly talented in woodworking. He has gifted the school with numerous items including cabinets for the K4 classroom and a beautiful nakashima table for the school’s Winter Festival fundraiser. Daniel is a key member of the yearbook team and the school chorus. He will be a freshman at Mercer University in Macon fall semester.
GCA is proud of these three amazing young people. They are definitely academically gifted and are fine examples of servant leadership.
