In recognition of Johnny Appleseed Day (Sept. 26th), the fourth and fifth graders at Grace Christian Academy took time out of their busy day to celebrate and study this great American frontier hero. While the teacher read the book, Johnny Appleseed, the students enjoyed apple juice, apples with peanut butter and caramel, apple sauce, and apple tarts. Students were then asked to write and retell the story of Johnny Appleseed as if they were the author. They made a book cover for their new book and illustrated it with the same theme. During their math and science time, the students used apples and information about apples to assist with their instructional time. This was a special and enjoyable day for these two classes…it made learning fun!!
